• The front and rear of a sheet of plywood are carved. The depth of each carving is halfway through the material. The exterior carving depicts organic termite forms, while the interior carving is a linear starburst. The interface of these two patterns allows negative space for light to shine through.

Removing material from the wood allows a change in material permanence. The flat plane of plywood can be reformed into a cone. Held in tension, a resilient shape is created. An LED bulb emerges from the peak of the cone, while a second bulb illuminates the interior.
