• Plant growth is ecologically and formally recursive. This series introduces floral patterns into a recursive mark-making process. These programmed carvings explore the potential in plants – from the transition from partial to full flower bloom, or the change from flower into pollinated berry. Separate points in time are expressed simultaneously.

    Each carving path is based on the previous one, with a subtle change in direction or tool use in CNC carving. By routing through the surface of plywood, the inner layers of wood and glue are exhibited. They are the primary compositional element in the artwork.
